New iOS update 13 - can’t delete “trash” Folder

I just Updated to iOS 13.1.2. When I go To my trash folder in my email and want to delete all the trash, there is no “Delete” button when I click “Select all.”

When I flick “Edit” and then click on each email in the trash individually, my options along the bottom are “Move” “Mark” or “Delete”. The problem is that i have 400+ emails in my trash folder and don’t want to have to click on each one individually.

If I click “Edit” and then “Select All,” my options across the bottom are “Move” “Mark” or “Archive”. The “Delete” button doesn’t show up when I “Select All”. He Delete option is only there if I click On each email individually.

What is the issue??

thank you!

If your email account is a Gmail account, follow these steps:

  • Go into Settings / Passwords & Accounts / Gmail account
  • Tap on the account (e.g. myname@gmail.com)
  • Tap on Advanced
  • Under Move Discarded Messages Into, tap on Deleted Mailbox
  • Tap on Account at the top left of screen
  • Tap on Done
  • Tap on Accounts
  • Close Settings
  • Close the Mail app if it was open
  • Reopen the Mail app and go to any of your Mailboxes, click Edit and then Select All and you should see at the bottom - Mark, Move, Trash (or Delete)

It's important to close out of Settings and the Mail app for the changes to take affect
