Catalina support for Canon 32-bit printer drivers

Apple seems to have been including Canon printer drivers scanner support through macOS10.14.6 Mojave. Will macOS10.15 Catalina continue support Canon printer/scanners with the 32-bit print drivers? If not, does anyone know a work around? My printer is a Canon Pixma TS6220 and was purchased less than 6 months ago.

There's a difference between drivers and other peripheral software. Drivers for printers are written by Apple, have been for a very long time. Apple's specification has made it so compatible printers are made to talk with Macs directly without the need of external drivers.

The specific Canon software like the scanner software or image editing application it may come with are not made by Apple. Its up to Canon to update those.

The printer will still work on Catalina normally , but the included Canon 32 bit software will not.

You can use Apple's own Image Capture or Preview to scan documents if the Canon software is not updated.

The Canon scan driver definitely does NOT work in Catalina. Quick Menu comes up but when you click on any of the scan action buttons, nothing happens. Canon driver page shows no updated drivers for Catalina. But as stated elsewhere, you can print or scan using Apple drivers. To scan I went to System Preferences-->Printers & Scanners-->highlight your printer/scanner-->on the right side of that dialog--->Scan----->Open Scanner

Canon - like all software vendors who provide applications for Apple hardware - has known for well over a year that Apple would stop supporting 32-bit applications (like Canon's IJ utility for Pixma 920/922).

This link provides an IJ App that supports scanning on MacOS 10.15:

Why does Canon makes this so hard to find?

I have found the 64 bit drivers on canon USA.

https://www.usa.canon.com/internet/portal/us/home/support/product-finder/support-printers?cm_sp=CSO-_-PFListing-_-pixma_mgseries#pixma-mgseries

All models updated are listed, I had to choose the nearest model number to my 5650, which was 5622!!

Install cups and ica (scanner) drivers the canon Inkjet network to setup printer.

Regards.

I installed OS Catalina and my Canon Scanner LiDE 210 would open with Canon software and would scan one page and then give error message on the second page to reinstall driver. Went to Canon Website and they do not have drive for OS-Catalina. I WAS ABLE TO SCAN by going to system preferences / printers and scanners / and opening the scanner. A generic pop up program popped up and I was able to scan a 6 page document and save it as a PFD or JPEG (my choice).

I am using Canon MX512 with MacBook Pro OS Catalina. I removed all previous software and plugged in a USB Printer cord. Completed install opened printers Scanners and searched out the MX512 Voila La found MX512 Printer Scanner installed and works like a charm. Wireless you ask yes unplugged USB and we are still running.

I would like to take credit for the fix on my unit but not t6o be all Apple best support in the business
