Catalina support for Canon 32-bit printer drivers

Apple seems to have been including Canon printer drivers scanner support through macOS10.14.6 Mojave. Will macOS10.15 Catalina continue support Canon printer/scanners with the 32-bit print drivers? If not, does anyone know a work around? My printer is a Canon Pixma TS6220 and was purchased less than 6 months ago.

There's a difference between drivers and other peripheral software. Drivers for printers are written by Apple, have been for a very long time. Apple's specification has made it so compatible printers are made to talk with Macs directly without the need of external drivers.

The specific Canon software like the scanner software or image editing application it may come with are not made by Apple. Its up to Canon to update those.

The printer will still work on Catalina normally , but the included Canon 32 bit software will not.

You can use Apple's own Image Capture or Preview to scan documents if the Canon software is not updated.

Thanks - none of the drivers seem to make a difference to the fact that I can't use the document feeder anymore, nor scan more than one page without closing and re-opening the app for every page.

Does anyone else have this problem? My only solution has been to use Preview to scan, then export the document (mult-page) to reduce the size (other wise it takes up too many mbs)

I have had a saga with Canon and updating drivers for the Prograf 2000 and ipF5100. Afraid I have no solution except after weeks of paid for telephone support which lead to them taking remote control of my machine. This resulted in them stopping the 5100 working as well. Their customer service is dire.

It gets worse as well suffice to say I do not recomend paying the £40 per 30minutes.

I think even the drivers and software that states it is compatible with OS.15 is not.

I have the ipf8400. nothing working in Catalina ... canon told me to update the drivers by the end of November.

But now in Mojave suddenly also nothing works any more ... so that's bad from canon ... been talking often to them, that their Mac drivers are bad as **** and have less functionality as on windows.

now I have to print via parallels in windows - how bad is that?

hopefully they get their stuff done ... had too many problems with canon and they don't listen ... as I need the printers for business I will see, if the next big printer will be again canon ...

I have found the 64 bit drivers on canon USA.

All models updated are listed, I had to choose the nearest model number to my 5650, which was 5622!!

Install cups and ica (scanner) drivers the canon Inkjet network to setup printer.

Regards.

I am using Canon MX512 with MacBook Pro OS Catalina. I removed all previous software and plugged in a USB Printer cord. Completed install opened printers Scanners and searched out the MX512 Voila La found MX512 Printer Scanner installed and works like a charm. Wireless you ask yes unplugged USB and we are still running.

I would like to take credit for the fix on my unit but not t6o be all Apple best support in the business

Are you using Image Capture?

Have you clicked the Show Details button to gain access to the full control list which may enable using the document feeder and multipage scans?
