Catalina support for Canon 32-bit printer drivers

Apple seems to have been including Canon printer drivers scanner support through macOS10.14.6 Mojave. Will macOS10.15 Catalina continue support Canon printer/scanners with the 32-bit print drivers? If not, does anyone know a work around? My printer is a Canon Pixma TS6220 and was purchased less than 6 months ago.

There's a difference between drivers and other peripheral software. Drivers for printers are written by Apple, have been for a very long time. Apple's specification has made it so compatible printers are made to talk with Macs directly without the need of external drivers.

The specific Canon software like the scanner software or image editing application it may come with are not made by Apple. Its up to Canon to update those.

The printer will still work on Catalina normally , but the included Canon 32 bit software will not.

You can use Apple's own Image Capture or Preview to scan documents if the Canon software is not updated.

I have had a saga with Canon and updating drivers for the Prograf 2000 and ipF5100. Afraid I have no solution except after weeks of paid for telephone support which lead to them taking remote control of my machine. This resulted in them stopping the 5100 working as well. Their customer service is dire.

It gets worse as well suffice to say I do not recomend paying the £40 per 30minutes.

I think even the drivers and software that states it is compatible with OS.15 is not.

I'm using the Canon IJ Scan Utility, and ADF (Automatic Document Feeder) is selected as the Source.

What happens since upgrading to Catalina is that the printer (Canon MB2750) then does a scan from the platen, not the ADF.

I've tried making copies from the ADF and that's not a problem.

I've downloaded the Drivers from Canon's website (both for the printer and the one for the scanner), but neither works.

I can use the Preview function to scan using the ADF, but it's an indirect process and creates bigger files than the Canon Utility, which means I have to send these larger documents in a roundabout way, because the files are too big for gmail. Sorry, that's more information that you need.

Just spoke to Canon who said that Apple has been taking care of Canon printer drivers themselves and suggests that Apple is responsible for creating the 64-bit support for Canon products and including it in mac OS10.15 Catalina. I am hoping to hear from someone who has upgraded to Catalina and successfully printed with a Pixma TS6220. Printing capability is an essential part of my operation and will not upgrade to Catalina until I get verification.

this whole scenario and apple's response is appalling - last week i had a working printer scanner, since then i have updated my iMac and now the scanning facility has stopped working - Q. who has changed my computer A. Apple; it is clear to me that it is up to Apple to fix this. There was no warning when the upgrade came through that my previously working hardware such as the scanner might no longer work, if I had known this I would not have opted to down load the upgrade - Apple, do the right thing and sort this out

I have had a lot of responses to my issue about a Samsung printer and how the scanning function has stopped working since updating my operating system on my iMac. I have seen a raft of advice but have not found a clear way through this and so it remains that I am not able to use the scanning function. It is probably that when I work through all the advice that I will find that way. Until then I just want to make it clear that the response from Apple itself was without doubt unhelpful to the point of being useless - it's all my fault apparently!!! This is not how a responsible company should treat its customers and no matter how many times they say that it is my fault as it was me who updated my computer, this does not make this true - what is true is that they have abrogated any and all responsibility for their new operating system not functioning and this is an outrage.
