I had the same problem too on my iPhone 6s plus. Immediately noticed the power drain issue after the upgrade. And the iPhone is getting very hot.

The following setting changes seem to work for me. Hope that helps you all

  1. disable 'Optimized Battery Charging' in the battery setting
  2. disable most of the location service options as described in https://youtu.be/vO0QRxgAOP4
  3. disable 'Share iPhone Analytics' and 'Share iCloud Analytics' in Privacy setting
  4. TURN ON 'Limit Ad Tracking' in Privacy setting

I had the same problem after installing 13.1.2 ... My iPhone SE battery drained in less than one hour and the phone overheated even when I wasn’t using it! I have temporarily switched off “location services” and this has stopped the problem. Life is a lot more peaceful without location services so may make this a permanent decision 😁

Yeah, for now also turn off location services and and disable 'Optimized Battery Charging'.

And no background update for less important apps. And avoiding wifi to be ON, without connecting it.

Also less talk time for now, as it drains the battery when I am on the go. phew.

But still this is an issue, because in the previous version this was not happening.

And now can revert to the previous iOS because apple unsigned those version. phew. Great Apple!

Thanks, Chief Mate for the link. There a lot of quick fix (I call them temporary fix) out there in youtube and sites like redmondpie.

The same thing is happening to my Iphone 7.

Battery health is 98% and below is a list of the things I have done:

• Reset the phone as new and installed all the apps again.

• Turned off all the notifications except phone calls and messages.

• Turned off background refreshing.

• Turned off automatic updates.

• Turned off most locations, only maps and find my phone are on to (while using).

• Turned off vibration

• Cloud backup is set only for contacts, notes, reminders and calendar, NOT for photos, videos and apps.

• Display is set to low brightness

• Turned off analytics

• Email is set to "Manual" Fetch and Push are off

• I only use the original apple charger and cable.

• the phone has had plenty time to index everything and it should be settled now.

• I don't use Facebook, Instagram, Snapchat, Twitter and Whatsap

Don't know what else to do to get better battery life. Sometimes I use low power mode which helps a bit.

The phone goes from 100% to 40% in stand by.

If I make a 10 min call, the battery drains about 25% of it's charge.

It's even worse now with the 13.1.3 update which I hoped it would fix the battery problem.

This is what I think, this new system is geared to the new phones with better batteries, processor and RAM.

I doubt that the battery will get better life on the iPhones 6S, 7 and 8 like it used to under IOS 12.

I'm thinking about buying one of those cases that has a built in battery pack to help and keeping me from charge my phone all the time.

I'm not buying a new iPhone I just can't afford, the iPhone 7 is still a great and capable phone.

If Anybody has any more suggestion I'll be happy to try.

I went to the Apple store and they tested my phone and it had 100% battery life left so all of the capacity standards were good.

I reset the email refresh to 15 min and turned off the background app refresh on the apps I do not use frequently. I will fully charge today and see how long the phone holds its charge through normal use. Before the update it lasted at least 2 days based on my usage habits. I do turn it off at night.

Ok here is my battery drain up date. I fully charged my SE at noon 10-18-2019, used it normally....I think I only had a couple of Google searches and checked a couple of e-mails, a few texts and 4 phone calls. I turned the phone off at 10:30 PM last night turned it on at 8:30 this am and as of 9:45 AM my charge level is 79%. So it is not draining as fast as it did before I made the app changes...but still annoying that we need to make these adjustments for an inefficient update.

Hi everyone

i have a 6s. For the first few days of the

latest version of iOS 13, my phone battery was draining very fast like everyone else posting on this discussion. I followed the directions in many of the posts, but also, there were comments from articles that stated that the first few days after the 13 iOS download there’d be many updates taking place in the background and that’s a battery drain attributable to new software. Many apps were updating in the background.

it’s now three days since I updated to 13.1.3 and I have noticed that the intense battery drain has diminished. The battery Power is lasting longer again. I’m not running on dark mode as someone stated that seemed to be a battery drain

I thought I’d report this information to all having battery issues

Keeping an eye on these post for a week. Been suffering all that's reported in the previous posts on my iPhone 6s; overheating, major battery loss over 1015 minutes. You name it I've had it.

Following couple of call to Apple support, reset phone to bare bones "as new" ststus...but thios loads 13.1.3 - so guess what, same problems. Have done all posted means of reducing battery drain; no change.

Went to local Genius Bar today for hardware test. Result? No problems and problem stated to be a software fault... that might or might not be resolved in the near future. Thanks Apple!! Even more so as my husband now using his iPhone more than the usual "very casually for very short periods". I think you might guess what the outcome was...but, in case you haven't, his iPhone 6s has the same problem.

To rub salt in our wounds, while in Curry's looking to source an Android replacement, a lady came in reporting the same problems on her 6s as the reason for now wishing to by an Android replacement.. Then, to increase my aggravation (and ire with Apple) while in the Genius Bar, another lady came in reporting similar problems and the technician (just back from holiday) said that he'd had another report on this issue earlier in the day. Thanks a lot Apple....NOT!

Please, Apple, resolve asap and let users know there's a problem, what you're doing to fix it and an estimated time for resolution. Management by mushrooming does not work.

watch what you say here or Apple will make threats against you for stating the truth. My post "When are they going to admit there is an issue with IOS 13.1.2?" was taken down because I have been going back and forth with them with the fact I am having the same battery problems as many others and even there own support team says it is an issue with IOS 13. this is what they didn't like but all the truth."

I have seen hundreds of people with different Apple devices with the same battery issue since they installed IOS 13.1.2. Battery going dead quickly. Called support and they remoted into my phone and found battery to be operating at 96% which there should be no issue at all. they also found that the IOS was using all the battery power. hearing stories of people being told they have to replace their device or battery by Apple. this is wrong. My phone used to run all day and when I plugged it in at bedtime would still have 45% or more depending on usage that day. Since new IOS update , the battery is below 20% after 2 hours. They tell me they are working on it. I don't see what is taking so long. they know there is an issue but will not publicly admit it. Instead trying to line their pockets with more money from customers who don't know there is an IOS issue!!! Step up Apple and do the right thing here!!!!!"
