I know this has been asked before. Mojave 10.14.6 is stuck on signatures in the mail prefs window..

Is there any way to get prefs back?

Always advised to have a current backup in the event you have to restore.

Quit mail.

Finder>Go>Go to Folder, copy & Paste:

 ~/Library/Containers/com.apple.mail

Highlight all the contents in this folder

Then right-click and choose "New Folder with Selection”. Do not move the new folder from this current location.

You can close the Finder window.

The next step will be to restart the Mac and test

After the computer is restarted, open the Mail Preferences to see if it opens properly with your missing signatures.

Hey there paultahoe,

Thanks for reaching out to Apple Support Communities. I understand your Mac is getting stuck when looking at signatures in Mail preferences. I’ll be happy to help with this.

See if this issue continues in safe mode or a test user account. This can isolate the issue or even possibly resolve this for you:

Use safe mode to isolate issues with your Mac

How to test an issue in another user account on your Mac

If that doesn’t help, go to System Preferences > iCloud > iCloud Drive Options > Turn Off Mail. Restart your Mac and try the signatures. If it works, turn on Mail once more and test again.

Let us know if these steps help.

Cheers

This iCloud/iCloud Drive on/off solution doesn’t work. I haven’t been able to change my Mail Prefs for two or three years now. It’s always stuck with (an empty) Signatures window.

I don’t want to try opening a new user account. It’s cumbersome. There must be another solution. It happens in Catalina, it happened before in Mojave, maybe even in High Sierra.

Thank you.

Impossible solution, yes. That's good to know because I've tried many fixes with no success on getting rid of the empty signature window.

I found a workaround using my same iCloud account with my Macbook Pro and Mojave 10.14.6.

I just edit my signature on the Macbook Pro and the iCloud account will apply changes in the Mac Pro desktop when composing new mail. If, at some point the Macbook comes up with an empty signature window I'll just buy another laptop and keep going. LOL
