MacOs Catalina and Notability Issues

Is anyone else having issues with notability causing your macbook to overheat and drain the battery after updating to MacOs Catalina? I already submitted a request to notability to look at this but I just wanted to see if it was an isolated problem on my end or if other people are having this issue as well.

Finally got a reply from Notability! Here's what they said:

"Thanks for getting in touch and sorry for the trouble! We recently introduced Document Scanning which may take more effort than usual, while your previous images index, so it may drain the battery faster than normal and make your device warm. Once all of your images have been processed, though, things should return to normal.

Please let us know if things haven't settled down, and we can investigate further."

Soo considering I have 700 lectures on notability, I got a feeling this is gonna take a while. I think I might just plug in my macbook overnight and let it run its course (probably gonna have to pop open my window to help keep it cool). I think I'll give it a shot tonight and let u know how it is tomorrow. Really hoping that this is the solution...

You can do go back to your original OS that came with your Mac (back as far as High Sierra I believe) by erasing your disk and then at restart press all at the same time, command + option + shift and R. This will allow you to install the OS that originally came with your Mac.

I just exchanged my 2019 Mac book pro 2 times. The first one was due to screen flickering the second one the battery died within 2 hours of use. I also updated it to Catalina. Noisy fan, over heating and battery drainage. This third one I chose to not update it to the Catalina just to see what would happen and sure enough battery is good and no loud noises. I came to this website to see if anyone had issues with the update before updating it. Now that I see it wasn’t the computer I’ll wait until they fix all these issues. Thank you all for posting because it just saved me another trip for a return. My suggestion is to reboot your computer if possible back to the previous version.

That is great you have that information. It will be worth to see what your findings are. However this issue has been noticed with a lot of laptops which are fairly new and my MacBook Pro does not have so many documents. Perhaps say around 10-15 documents. Not sure why the battery is draining off.

I also noticed many new apps installed after the update. Just wondering if one of them is the culprit. I checked the Activity monitor and didnt see any rogue process eating up memory from the new OS. Not sure what is the reason. I got my MBP a few months back. Hope this is rectified soon.

I upgraded to Catalina a week ago. I'm very sorry I did, as I'm having many problems, but the awful one is that I can't used my laptop without the power and couldn't believe that in under 2 hours I was down to 5%.

This is Ridiculous and never it happened.

you grabed one of the best reason to buy your laptops.

now it is obvious apple was not ready for released it at all.
