Any word yet about Simjacker vulnerability on iPhone, iPad?

I just listened to a Security Now with Steve Gibson podcast from Tues 17 Sept 2019 which announced AdaptiveMobile’s discovery of an SMS-based Simjacker vulnerability which affects potentially ALL phones with a SIM card. Any word about the extent of the vulnerability with Apple machines? I would imagine that it could be POSSIBLE that the more stringent rules concerning the transfer of information within a non-jailbroken iOS device, including sandboxing, MIGHT have been able to naturally limit the extent of an information breach or operating system modification arising from an attack of this type. Well, I would LOVE to think so - but I would like to ask: Is any official word from Apple about this? Do they not like to talk until they finish with their own security review and testing?
