- different bar calculation but still a very important signal lost with the left hand (from 4/5 to 1)
- I can measure a 4 mega download with only 1 bar (speed test app in 3G mode)
- maybe a better 3G/Edge and Edge/3G switching
- proximity sensor seems to have a better distance sensibility and some different timings to react (maybe a little longer to re-activate the screen). I have tested successfully 4 times with my voice mail...
It seems to be a good starting point but nothing can fix the left hand antenna shortcut.
No it is not. If you read the release notes before you downloaded it said it changed the appearance of the bars and the formula for determining the signal thus displaying it more accurately. That is all this update is supposed to do.
HOW ABOUT WE ALL WAIT UNTIL TOMORROW AND SEE WHAT STEVE SAYS. ITS APPLE, THEY ARE VERY LOYAL TO THEIR CUSTOMERS AND IM SURE THEY WILL ACCOMMODATE US VERY SOON. BE PATIENT.

Does the proximity sensor cause ones Caps Lock to go on?
Unfortunately for Apple if accuracy means displaying fewer bars, then they are going to have more complaints than before. I'm not having any issues that I haven't been able to repair easily for my self but I know that there are plenty of people out there that just want perfection without interaction.
The two bars i do have are taller, thats all, but no difference in the number of bars i have.
My 3G, which i upgraded from, always had 5 bars and a great 3G signal in my room. The 4 however, averages on 3 bars and i sometimes loses 3G and end up with Edge.
Its cosmetic not a functional fix. Jobs is giving his press conference tomorrow, and he better not say that the 4.0.1 has fixed the problem, because it simply hasn't.
I smell a recall coming. Best to call your mobile carrier and tell them that of the antenna problem, because if they are recalled, it'll be a fiasco, hugh waiting lists, then after your phone is gone you might not see it for awhile. Unless Apple do a simple iPhone 4 swap, our busted Antenna 4's for one that works, but then how long will it take to fix the problem?
I think he means that Apple has demonstrated in the past that they have shown loyalty to their customers and this has also proven to be beneficial to the stockholders (of which I am one also).
