Apple Communities won't let me unfollow threads.

There doesn't seem to be an answer for this, or a thread I can jump on. So I'm throwing this out there. I've gotten my answer from a couple of threads, and I hit the "Unfollow" button at the top of the page. Where it turned into a white box with "follow" written on it. So to me, that means I have Unfollowed that thread. But I keep getting a crap load of emails of people replying to that thread. And when I go back to that discussion, the "Unfollow" button is back. Like I never clicked on it.

Anyone know what's going on? How do I truly unfollow a thread?

Thanks.

Maybe I am misunderstanding.

There has been an ongoing issue where if someone clicks on Unfollow in a particular discussion, it still shows up as being Followed and one cannot then unfollow it. Does that make sense? However, if someone subscribes to a particular forum, that is a totally different animal and I will rely on what you tell me because I do not get, nor do I want to get emails from any forum or discussion other than for Helpfuls or Solved responses. I gave up getting emails early on because my inbox was being overrun with ASC emails.

I subscribe to 11 different forums but since I don’t get emails I don’t know how it works. Do you get emails by following a forum even if you don’t participate in a discussion in that forum? I honestly don’t know.

Did you email the Hosts?
If so, what was their reply?

It seems that drastic measure of disabling email when your account in the database is "sick" is not what you would ultimately want the solution to be.

OK, now I must be misunderstanding you. Why is disabling emails drastic? If you don’t have a question, don’t need help, or your problem was solved, why would you want to continue to get emails from the community? And when did this issue become something that the hosts could help with on selective basis? I saw a couple of threads about this in the lounge with no resolution and I don’t recall seeing any mention of contacting a host for help.

Can you direct me to one of those discussions in case I missed it?

The hosts are aware of this ongoing issue. I cannot unfollow threads either. The only thing that I can suggest for the time being is to turn off emails for discussions in your profile settings.

Click on your username to get to your profile page. Click on Edit Profile and Preferences. You can disable email notifications there. If you have another question, you can always enable it again if needed.

Thanks to Demo - I have been looking for his thread to see if there is a resolution to the problem. He says no.

If this affects only a few folks, it is clear that there is some problem with the database - there is a variable of your own record that holds a LIST of thread numbers that is not getting seen to when when you use the Follow/Following button

That said, email communityaccounts@apple.com and the Hosts will contact you
