Apple USB keyboard not working since Catalina update

Try downloading and applying the macOS Catalina 10.15.3 Combo Update and see if that will fix the problem.

I'm having the same exact issue, have to reboot every time I unplug the USB keyboard. I could not find any fix for this problem yet...

Same here. I have my Mac Book Pro 13" connected to a LG 27ud88-w display over USB-C and the Keyboard and a Logitech mouse via USB to the display. Very annoying issue. Pls fix.

If you have an usb-hub, connect your keyboard by using this.

I have problems with the tab key, caps lock and function on my wireless keyboard.

None of them work, very inconvenient.

I can't seem to find a fix for it online.

Using a usb hub works around 60% of the times for me. There are still times when it does not recognize the Apple keyboard, even through the hub.

I have a MacBook Air 2015 btw...

I killed the keyboard service and my Apple USB Keyboard started working again without reboot required.

The service didn't start by itself so I curious what it is actually contributes.

I plugged the USB keyboard into an Apple USB to USB-C adapter and it works now.

I am one of the many who have been frustrated that i cannot use a simple cabled USB apple keyboard.

The issue was solved by plugging in a USB stick (keep it in) and then plugging in the keyboard.

This worked perfectly for me. Thanks.

Just did the update and my key board wired is not working

Works once. Then then next day, same problem again. It's not a solution having to this everytime.
