Catalina impact on Bluetooth magic mouse and trackpad

Good news: since upgrading to Catalina the conflict that prevented having a trackpad and magic mouse 1 connected at the same seems to have been finally fixed.

Bad news: with or without trackpad, the Magic Mouse 1 keeps dropping (every hour or so on average) its BT connection to my Mac. Any suggestions on a fix?

Having the same issue as described two weeks later from OP - I just bought a new MBP thunderbolt 4 port this past week so I could work faster and ironically, this bug is seriously slowing me down.

Magic mouse 1 (batteries) and apple wireless keyboard (original? it's older) both keep intermittently losing their bluetooth connections.

I can't speak to how they would have worked before the update on this machine because I literally updated it to the newest OSx upon buying it but needless to say, this is really frustrating.

Additional context: using a thunderbolt port to external monitor also...close proximity to wireless charger for my iphone (not sure if that's helpful)

Still not fixed for me.

The original Mighty Mouse keeps dropping. And even worse - my Matias backlit keyboard now also drops once I don't use it for a minute or so..

If I use an external monitor (through Thunderbolt 3 dock), the connection to the mouse drops every 1-2 minutes, and e.g. after a page-load in Safari or other short CPU peaks (which are mostly only a couple of milliseconds).

I am experiencing the same issue.

My Magic Mouse kept getting disconnected throughout the day. This is very very bad. Sometimes, I just need to click the button a few times to get connected, sometimes, I have to turn off the mouse and turn it back on. Sometimes, nothing will work at all. There is no consistence pattern that I noticed to cause it or to recover the connectivity.

I tried to remove the Magic Mouse from the BlueTooth and reconnect back. Issue still exist but it seems work a bit longer before issue arise again.

Quick update - I was advised by @AppleSupport on Twitter to update to today's release of the OS (10.15.1) and after doing so, can still report that I am having connectivity issues (same as before) with Magic Mouse 1 and 2009 Apple Wireless keyboard.

Also (referencing my other bug report thread) as an FYI, I can't import most fonts to Font Book.

Same here. And I hate being an environmental disaster and buy new stuff when I already have something. Apple is really having a Windows Vista moment her. Everybody is talking about Catalina and the problems they have. I did by a BT speaker even if i had one, thought it was broken. But the new one, harman kardon very upmarket model just had problems. Random every day. All sots of problams, fall back to crappy codec or just loosing connection all the time. Tried different suggested fixes out there. So i use a windows surface to play music in my office.

I have 10.15.1 and magic mouse 1 not working on 2018 3,6 i3 mac mini. Disconnected everything and found an old apple usb keyboard. Macbook pro 15 retina 2013 (10.15.1) not working with 2019 harman kardon onyx 5 speaker. In fact I think the 10.15.1 might have ruined both of these computers, did not notice problems before that (but can be wrong). Maybe this is some apple scam like they had going on with the battery on iphones, i did buy a new xs, but regret feeding these people if they are sloppy or not environmentally friendly. Todays apple code is crapware. It use to be several times better than anything else, but is degenerating quickly.

Hopefully this is not rewarding them for scam, but I understand it is tempting. Not so environmentally friendly. Well, if they blackmail us they will win in the short run, but I have deciding going for a bach of PCs for our office and not relying solely on Apple products like we did for many years. A shame to have an extra computer per employee. Our neighbour did the same thing. Could not get a program running after catalina, and was forced to go and buy an extra PC for that purpose only.

I have Catalina 10.15.2 installed on 2018 13" A1989 Macbook Pro with Touchbar and my MM1 is dropping intermittently. Also connection is super fuzzy like while moving the cursor moves are interrupted. It is super bad experience. And one guy posted this issue as solved after upgrading the OS. Such that guys around we are not getting any support from apple. Almost 100 people complaining about this issue and how you dare to marked it as solved!

I have been searching and searching for a fix to this and FINALLY found it today! I followed Step 2 on this and it worked like a charm. The only issue is that I can only use either my Magic Mouse or my Trackpad - if trackpad is on then I cannot use the mouse. But I'm okay with that because now my trackpad, mouse and keyboard are working wirelessly again! Hallelujah. Hope this helps others.
