I had the same issue and I run softwareupdate with '--reset-ignored' on the terminal. Then it gets okay.
The actual command I run was
sudo softwareupdate -l --all --force --reset-ignored
But
softwareupdate --reset-ignored
Or
sudo softwareupdate --reset-ignored
would be enough.
Same issue, MacBookAir6,2.
Same problem here, late 2017 imac, "Requested version of MacOS is not available"
Finally a solution.. Ty!! the only downside is that the version is the Beta... but I am in Catalina :)
I tried the same thing but I got the same result. It told me it wasn't available...

Hi,
After try it, it look like it works, but, after some % (511,1 MB of 8,13 GB) of installation, it fail again with "The Request time out" error message.

Catalina creates nightmare. I am still trying to get mine sorted out without having to pay £600!

Same problem for me, and I cannot Update to the release one.
I would like update my mac but no as a Clean Installation. I would like to get it as usual, just updating from macOS Mojave. Of course no to Beta version.
