UPSB MacBookPro : thunderbolt power on failed

After even more troubleshooting it appears to be related to the device coming out of sleep mode. If I turn off sleep mode completely my computer will no longer kernel panic.

try resetting SMC. I had the same problem and this solves it for me.

I have this exact same issue. My computer was running great on Mojave but as soon as I upgraded to Catalina I started getting kernel panics. I already erased and reinstalled Catalina and the same issue occurs. Even Mojave does the same thing. I think something has been upgraded at the firmware level that is causing this issue.

After experiencing this issue for quite some time I was able to resolve it by replacing the RAM in my 2017 iMac. I haven't had any issues since.

It's kinda annoying. i fold it and when i try to unfold it i recognized it was turned off and i have to log in.

any ideas on how to fix that?

I have exactly the same issue and same error message - either when leaving it untouched for a few minutes, or closing the lid to put to sleep... happens at random though so can't replicate every time.

Let me know if you are able to find any other resolution.

Neither upgrading to the latest os nor pram reset did it for me.
