Placing cursor middle of word - iOS 13

This method only works sometimes on iphones...at least in my experience.

Better method by far (and the one that has now worked for me 100% of the time) is the spacebar-trackpad one described in detail in a previous post. Basically, press the space bar which turns keyboard into trackpad. Then put the cursor exactly where you want it. No issues with trying to see around finger, no issues with cursor jumping to wrong line.

Again, just my experience, but I started with the original iphone, so been around the block a few times.

I was having a similar issue. My fix was holding down on the space bar so it can be used as a trackpad. Also if you tap with a different finger on the trackpad it will highlight. https://mashable.com/article/ios-12-precise-text-selection-keyboard/

Have you tried pressing and holding the space bar so that the entire keyboard becomes a trackpad? It's then extremely easy to position the insertion point where you want it.

You missed one important part of the instructions: you need to press and hold the spacebar. And, yes, that's been noted several times in this thread.

Press and hold spacebar. It does the same thing

I don’t use the keyboard. I just hold my finger on the cursor. After a second it grows in height, and I can drag it anywhere with my finger.

yep hold your finger on the cursor until it enlarges and voila - move it wherever ya want.

Don't try to move the cursor, use the space bar trackpad.

Use the space bar trackpad. Works every time.

Ones that have a stake in it should. I have no issue with the way it works, but that does not mean everyone does. We will see what Apple does. I know I liked the way the trackpad worked, and understand how they modified the cursor for word and group selections. However, not everyone is looking for selection, and are used to tapping in a word area to make a change. You just have to do it with the trackpad feature by pressing and holding on the space bar. We will see what happens.
