finder iphone sync apply grayed out

I'm experiencing this issue, running OS X 10.15.3 (MBP mid-2014, Retina 13-inch) and an iPhone X running iOS 13.3. After restarting the iPhone and plugging it into the USB on the Mac, the backup options were accessible. After I changed the Encrypt local backup option, and went through popups to verify the change, the backup options are greyed out again.

Idk why apple making simple things so complicated in every release ? Earlier they removed downlod ipa in iTunes, i ve 5 iPhone and earlier i just need to download/update the app in iTunes and sync it in all my iPhones, but I guess Apple is having a downfall as most people buying Android devices which are more cheaper and full of freedom, now people say Apple devices are safe from viruses etc, Imagine A rainy day and consider u want to enjoy the rain, but apple says Don’t go out (if u don’t go out obviously u won’t get ill, but also u didn’t enjoy the rain, on the other hand Android let u enjoy in the rain, all u need to do is just take ur umbrella ☔️ with u. Hope u got my point

I connected my iPad with USB, updated to 13.1.3 and the issue is now fixed. I see options for Backup and "Apply" appears when a setting is changed.

I'm having this issue, too. Deeply regretting updating to Catalina because of this. :(

Eventually, I was able to sync successfully. I don't know why it eventually worked. I didn't do anything differently.

Don't but i had to re-update my mac and now i cant not even apply nothing why syncing. what do you think i could do? Any help?

I had this.

My solution was updated all software.

Reconnect via USB cable.

Allow everything to sync by itself

And the secret sauce. Click 'Sync', which finished instantly and unlocked the options.

Were you able to find a real solution?

Unfortunately I have not found an answer and have therefore reverted to Mojave until this issue (and several others that I was facing) are resolved. Hopefully in 10.15.3
