after Catalina update my MacBook Air 2017 shuts down when laptop lid is down. Is there any remedy?

Thanks for coming to Apple Support Communities for help today with your MacBook Air. It sounds like you close the lid to sleep the computer and it will shut down.
Have a look at this article: If your Mac doesn't sleep or wake when expected. After reviewing settings, you may need to reset the SMC as directed under "If the previous steps don't work".
