IOS 13.1.3 battery drain

Well I guess another update, another waste of time as the bugs on the iPhone XR are still there. Weird battery drain. IT SHOULD HAVE MORE THAN A DAY'S LIFE OF BATTERY. I had to change my device for another one and its the same problem. When will apple wake up and start fixing this important battery drain issues. Apple support is stating a ' Hardware Problem' No I don' think so as everyone is complaining on these pages about how bad the software is and need a fix. My battery is at 100% capacity. It is a problem with the SOFTWARE. Also stop sending us links to apple's pages about lithium-ion batteries and how they work, battery performance etc... ITS A NEW PHONE. We need this fixed. Especially on the iPhone XR which should have more than a day's battery life!!! WAKE UP APPLE!! WE BUY PRODUCTS WITH A LOT OF EFFORT FOR SPENDING MONEY AND WE GET THIS IN RETURN. I know I'm angry but I've just had enough of this nonsense!!! :(

Ever since 13.1.1 my iphone7 will drain out even when powered off and being plugged in to power. 13.1.3 did not fix the problem. This is a serious ios bug. Once charged to 100% the phone will also require rebooting 5-10 times where the battery indicator will show almost 0% and the show 100% on reboot and bice versa. i have the screenshots to prove it.

What makes the phone drain out within an hour despite being plugged in and turned off???

I have been having this problem, BUT.. I think there is something else going on. I am suspecting the battery is NOT draining that fast... ONLY that the battery indicator is going down faster than it should. Why do I think that? Well, yesterday, my battery indicator, as usual, started dropping like a stone.. I let it do that without plugging it in. It reached 1% and THEN... I Facetimed with my partner for 1 HOUR on 1% and it did NOT die. Then I browsed News etc for another hour. Finally, it died after two hours being on 1%. So, I calibrated it by letting it be dead and unplugged for a few hours, then charging it to 100% leaving it plugged in for a few more hours. We'll see how it behaves today.

It seems a bit more reasonable today, but you shouldn't expect the indicator to be fixed just because you calibrated your phone. If it is buggy, it will continue to give wrong readings regardless of battery level and calibration. My suggestion is to check how long your phone is lasting before it dies and check if this is any worse than before. You might panic and start charging it when it shows 3% when in fact it is at 10% or 15% and still has more hours of life in it. But 13 is definitely an unlucky number for Apple!

Just for reference if anyone needs it. I have tried everything. Erasing and starting over not from my icloud so that's it's legit a clean start. DFU restore (google it, i had never hear of it), optimized the battery twice. Nothing has worked. When I originally went to the apple store to purchase a new battery, he did an erase but put my icloud back on and said it should be good because the battery says 90% efficiency. But he also said to do the erase all and start from scratch if that didn't help. (Since it didn't help that's what I did, plus all the other stuff I mentioned). He did say that if that didn't do it then sometimes the efficiency read out doesn't read correctly so it could be a bad battery. I had planned to go back and actually have the battery replaced this time, but then I started to doubt if a new battery would even help since the SE is so old. In the end, I decided to let go of the SE and purchase a new phone. I was hoping it was just an SE problem since it's one of the oldest left but seeing the iPhone 7 mentioned worries me a bit. Anyway, if anyone ends up getting their battery replaced, I'd be curious to know if that fixed it.

I’m on iPhone 7 13.2.2 and had real drain issues - draining within a workday and then switching off. I started doing the recalibration process ... the phone did not drain overnight like it had been. Recalibration process gets you to turn off a bunch of things. I’ve turned the contrast up a little (in dark mode), location services back on but the rest left off (background App refresh and auto app updates) - drain issue resolved.

I have this problem too. Same usage but since updating to the newest iOS my phone battery is dying even if I am not touching my phone. Goes from 100% to 20% in an hour or two...

Funny thing is... if I do a hard reset the battery life shows as way higher (70-80%) but then drops down again super quick. Not sure if it'll die or not but something is wrong with the software.

It sounds like your new iPhone is syncing with your iCloud photos to download them to your new phone. I might be wrong but it should get better once that process is over.

The problem I have on my XS is that there is literally no usage in the battery graphs but the battery drops at exactly the same rate. My old iPhone 7 has a flat line overnight. My XS battery drains even on low power mode or when I switch off all back ground refresh. Both are on the same iOS. I have another appointment at the Genius Bar and hopefully they’ll have a solution this time.

The drain is not real, it is just the indicator. You can immediately stop the drain by shutting down all running apps. When you log back in the power indicator will stop draining until the real power state is reached.

i have tried reloading all apps but have not been able to identify what kicks it off. Happens a good few times a day. At least it is a sort of workaround.

For the third time, you can stop the drain instantly by removing all active apps, then restart the app you want. Double click on main page, swipe up to remove each app until gone. Then restart the one you want. The drain indicator will then hold until the real status catches up.

Apple need to fix this software problem brought in on iOS 13 and carried through up to the latest level. It is NOT a hardware problem.
