Mail App only works in Safe Mode on iMac running High Sierra

I was able to finally create my Mac Mail account only when in Safe Mode. However, now when I boot up normally, I still can't connect; must be some type of corruption somewhere. Connection doctor just shows a never ending spinning wheel. Obviously, I don't want to have to start up in Safe Mode every time I want to use Mail. Any ideas, thoughts, suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

Also, there was a similar thread about this back in July (Mail App only works in Safe Mode on iMac running Mojave 10.14.5). The author, bahyde, had basically the same problem. He never replied how he eventually fixed the problem. bahyde, if you're reading this, I'd greatly appreciate hearing about your outcome! Is there any way I can contact bahyde through this forum to learn his outcome.? There seems to be no messaging setup for this community forum.

Thanks in advance!

BDAqua, thanks for your reply; your suggestion to download the EtreCheck diagnostic app paid off. Turned out to be the following “Unsigned” file: com.DataFormatSearchP.plist. I have no idea what an “Unsigned” file is, or what this one did, but deleting it fixed my problem. Mac Mail is finally working!

Hello,

Are you running any Anti-virus or Cleaning Apps? those are big problems.

What all 3rd party extensions are you running?

EtreCheck is a simple little app to display the important details of your system configuration and allow you to copy that information to the Clipboard. It is meant to be used with Apple Support Communities to help people help you with your Mac.

Pastebin is a good place to paste the whole report...

Workable but harder for me to work with...the Note tool on the bottom of this editor's toolbar, as shown in the image, to copy and paste the output from EtreCheck.

There is also Malwarebytes...
