blinking siri light on Macbook Pro 2016 touch bar

Suddenly, the square where siri normally is on the touch bar started to flash with a bright white light. When I touch the bar it goes away only to return in almost exactly one minute later. As the touch bar starts to dim, then the light starts to dimly flash as the lights on the touch bar fade away. Once the touch bar goes black, then the flashing starts to be very bright. It does not appear to have started when I first upgraded to Mojave. It is a little annoying as it flashes quite brightly. There have been a large number of people saying they have the same problem, but there has been no solution. Why is this thing flashing? It appears to flash in a random fashion, but possibly as processes are done on the Mac. Since it has never occurred before, it seems like a change in some OS software has occurred. Did it start with an upgrade to Mojave? I don't know. Does anyone have an idea how to stop this flashing?
