I'm on Catalina (upgrade from Mojave)
I used Keka for .zip files but since changed into Archive Utility.
Issue is setting the Archive Utility app to being the default for all .zip files places the green Archive Utility icon in the .zip files instead of the default white with grey zipper icon.
Any guidance will be greatly appreciated.

Hey, to restore the default Icons, you can install a different archiving program (like the Unarchiver) and configure it to be the default app for all the filetypes. Then uninstall the Unarchiver, this will restore the default icons and get rid of that ugly green one.
(Or keep Unarchiver around if you prefer :P)

Thanks allirune! Actually your's is the solution to the problem! Just tried by setting Keka as the default decompressor and uninstalling it. Worked just as you said. So much thanks!!!!
Got this from all the output of the command:
lsregister: registered /System/Library/CoreServices/Applications/Archive Utility.app
Restarted MacBook to see if there is a change on ZIP archive files
(from green icon into the default white zipper icon with ZIP at the bottom)
Zips are opening by default with Archive Utility
No change in icon yet.
I don't quite get it.
From Finder>Go>Go to Folder, copy and paste:
/System/Library/CoreServices/Applications/
here you can drag the Archive Utility.app to your Dock for easy of use and access.
See if this restores your default icon you are hoping for.

Thing is zip files have the green Archive Utility icon itself and not the white icon with the word ZIP at the bottom as is the default. Having this issue only on my MacBook, Late 2012 Mac mini with Catalina is showing the white icon with ZIP words at the bottom.
Will try the suggestion and report back

If you choose to use ArchiveUtility.app as the default then yes you get the green ArchiveUtility.app icon by default.

If this is mission critical to your workflow and you need to see something different then please restate the issue...
Have same problem with Xcode's .playground, .xcproj, .xcworkspace. Waiting for help :(

As a note, it's localized to my user profile since the other user on the Mac has no issue. Shows default app icon for ZIP files.
Understood, will stop pursuing this since it's just a cosmetic change. Not critical to any workflow.
