ipad pro dies when reaching 40-50% battery left on ios 13

1st gen ipad pro has been performing great since buying it a few years ago. After doing the ios 13 updates every time the battery drops to around 40 to 50% it just dies out of nowhere. If I plug it back in to charge it jumps back up to around 20% pretty quickly and charges up pretty normal. Not sure if this is due to the new operating system or if it's just coincidence that the battery has started to fail right after I have updated??????
