-50 error with old itunes

So I redownloaded an older version of iTunes (12.6.3.6) onto windows 10 computer, because I wanted to browse the app store. However, whenever I try to sign in using my Apple id, I get the error "There was a temporary problem completing your request. An Unknown Error occurred (-50)."

The issue goes away if I completely remove iTunes 12.6 and install iTunes 12.10. I was able to successfully sign in with iTunes 12.10, but I don't really care, since I can't use the App store. After I had 12.10 installed, I completely uninstalled it, then reinstalled 12.6. I could see my apple id logged in on iTunes, but when I tried to download an "older" app and it asked for password verification, at which point it refused to log me in with the same error message.

I tried with iTunes 12.4 as well, and got the same problem. Is there anyone else with the same issue?

I don't work for Apple, but your error message suggests that you are still trying to use an older version of iTunes that is no longer supported by the iTunes Store. The wording of your error message also suggests to me that you are not running Windows XP or Vista, so a solution is possible in your case: Install a version of iTunes that is still supported by the store. You need an iTunes version that can not only sign in, but also manage apps? There is now only ONE version that matches your requirements: iTunes 12.6.5.3. You need a download link?
