Catalina: Apple TV app: Remote Control

We all remember Front Row and our beloved Apple Remote. Now that macOS Catalina has the very cool Apple TV app, what do we do for remote controlling our Macs? When it comes to remote controlling your movies, music or podcasts, an iPhone app doesn't feel so "thin" anymore does it? We want a 'real' remote control.

We want the Apple Remote back!

Does anyone know of any 'tolerable' solutions to this get-out-of-couch-to-adjust-volume-and-rewind problem?

iMac 21.5", macOS 10.15

You may want that back but you hardly speak for all of us. In my opinion, the Apple TV (with it's nice slim remote) is a far better experience than trying to watch "tv" on a computer.
