Get internet if boot into safe mode. turn off computer, turn on while holding left shift button. Should see Safe mode in red in upper right corner. log on with you password open browser & should work. left apple chat with reinstalling 10.15.1 and wasted another 35 minutes getting nothing on internet either thru ethernet or wifi. I will pick up with them in the morning as it is too late to deal with it. Apple's faulty os releases makes me think they are trying to mirror microsoft. This didn't happen in the past & is what made apple. SMH

If it works in Safe Mode it means there is a third party software conflict. I suggest you download Etrecheck while in Safe Mode, then restart normally, run Etrecheck to do its diagnostic. Post the full report here.
There is a solution. I must eat my words though....I did mention in a previous post that its a faulty update....and not to uninstall any other 3rd party apps.
Well it appears to be a bug in the upgrade that does not gel with antivirus/security apps.
I uninstalled trend off all my machines with 10.15.1 and internet usage is 100% once again and the machines all shutdown correctly. Someone send this info to John Connor so he can get it out to the resistance. LOL
I don't have any Intego or similar SW in my MacBook Pro, but got the same problem after upgrade to macOS 10.15.1.
I was able to get connection just after I tried a 5.0 GHz wireless network. The 10.15.1 update made it impossible to connect to 2.4 GHz band. Try a 5.0 GHz network, at least until another update (hopefully) solves this issue.
I had the same problem, and called Apple support, and they told me it's a 10.15.1 problem and that until 10.15.2 comes out (soon, hopefully) I have to always boot in safe mode. We stripped out all apps, shut down everything else, and did Disk Aid first, but nothing helped until he had me boot into safe mode.
I also turned of net barrier, the problem has gone away. I'm surprised since I did restart in safe mode and it didn't seem to help. I don't know what was going on there but all seems well now. Shame on me for my bad thoughts.

I have had a similar problem with Safari, Chrome & Mail all unable to connect to the web. I updated Intego Net Barrier to 10.9.9 everything now works as normal. I didn't need to turn off Intego as it was able to connect to its servers.
Had exactly the same issue after I updated my wife’s MBA to Catalina 10.15.1. Instantly had network connectivity problems despite resetting the WiFi router. Tips on this site got me out of the dog house with my wife... complete uninstall of Trend Micro and machine back to normal. Whew!
I booted in Safe Mode and had some limited connectivity. On a whim, I decided to look at the advanced features under network preferences, and made my way over to the DNS tab. I added a couple of DNS servers to the list (Google and Cloudfare). I got the info for those DNS servers from Lifewire.com. After adding the primary and secondary servers for both, I found that my internet speed picked right up. I rebooted in normal mode, confirmed that the additional DNS servers were available, and connected to the internet without any issues. I am not running the antivirus softwares that others on this thread are using, but I do have Sophos installed as a precaution because I use Parallels to run Windows 10 for work. I didn't try uninstalling Sophos before updating my available DNS servers.
hey all,
went thru lots of threads and troubles - nothing worked until i found a footnote on INTEGO software i also was running on my mac.
MANUALLY deleted all of it (search for INTEGO on your mac, drop all results into the bin & empty trash. restart mac) and my problems are gone!
good luck to all you brave catalina installers ; )

First thing is to uninstall Intego.
Also: the Toast software is extremely old, it is almost certainly not working in Catalina, so you might as well uninstall it.
Yep, antivirus. Uninstalled Trend, all OK.
I left VirusBarrier running, and just turned off protection in the Netbarrier preference pane. I'll just leave it off until one of the two, either Apple or Intego comes up with a fix.
Read up on the rest of the thread. The issues have been identified as associated with third party security software such as intego and trend micro. Disabling them solves the problem.
