SMB file sharing client doesn't work on Catalina

Linux SMB file server working with Mojave. Upgrade Mac to Catalina, go to the Finder window, select the Linux SMB server, and "Connection Failed". All other machines on the network can access the Linux SMB file server (Windows, Linux, Mac with Mojave). Ubuntu Linux 16.04.6, Samba is latest version at 4.3.11. My conclusion is the Catalina update broke client SMB networking. My question for Apple is 1) are you going to fix it or 2) what solution do you have for networking from a Linux file server to Macs?

Yes I checked Little Snitch. I've added a rule to permit incoming and outgoing connections from netbiosd. Could you provide some more input on your SMB shares (host type)(have you any security on the shares)? Can you check to see if netbiosd is running on your Catalina (use Activity Monitor available in Launchpad and Other and the search bar)? I've seen another discussion of this problem on the net: https://apple.stackexchange.com/questions/371895/no-connection-to-network-drive-macos-10-15-catalina
