Troubleshooting applying the same crop to multiple photos in iMovie.

I cropped a photo and want to apply the crop to all the other photos in my iMovie project. I selected the photo, then 'copy', then selected the photos to apply this to with cmd, but edit > paste adjustments is greyed out. Pls could you help me troubleshoot this problem?

Thank you!

You need to be in the timeline of a project, not in project media view.

Your screen shot shows that you are doing the cropping in the project media view. Cropping done in the project media view cannot be copied to other photos. You need to do the cropping in the timeline using the crop tool, and then the paste adjustments tool will work. The difference is that cropping in the timeline will crop only in the 16:9 dimensions of iMovie's screen. Cropping done in the media browser view, on the other hand, can be done in any dimensions that you want. If you want to copy the crop that you made in the project media view you will need to redo the crop for each additional photo.

Hi, becca,

Here's a link that describes the procedure for pasting effects adjustments from one clip to other clips:

https://help.apple.com/imovie/mac/10.1/#/mov58103651f

So, make your crop adjustment to the clip that you want. Then do an Edit/Copy of that clip. Then select a clip or a range of clips to which to apply the crop adjustment. Do an Edit/Copy of the selected clip or range of clips. Then do an Edit/Past Adjustments/Crop to the clips.

Thanks for your super-speedy response Rich!

The helpful link you suggested is the page I've already been following for instructions. Weirdly, for me, I can't do 'paste adjustments' because it's greyed out. I must be doing something wrong somewhere but I have no idea what I could be doing wrong. Here's the screenshot to show what displays for me. If you have any pointers for something I may have got wrong in my set up that would be great.

Wierdly, for e, I can't do 'paste adjustments' because it's greyed out. I must

be doing something wrong somewhere but I have no idea what. I have a screenshot

to show what displays for me (eg greyed out 'paste adjustments' so I can't

click on 'crop'). I tried to upload the picdture but I'm just getting a blue

spinning circle… If you have any pointers for something I may have got wrong in

my setup, that would be great.
