Podcast app doesn’t work since update

Has anybody else found that podcast app has essentially become useless since the update and what did you do to fix it? Aside from it being slow and clunky,

-screen constantly switches from “shows” to “listen now”.

-When you press play it plays a podcast for three words and then stops, flicking to home screen

-if you get it to play you cannot browse the internet while listening as it switches off if you move across to safari or if you use any app, that previously you could use while podcast played

-it intermittently performs like it should and more often than not the problem exists at night

im too scared to uninstall it at this stage Incase I lose everything I had already downloaded for listening

yes I’ve turned machine off then on
