AirPod Pro Microphone Call Quality

Okay easy there.

I simply described a solution that worked for me, trying to give people an option that might also work for them to get rid of the issue.

I wasn’t claiming that it will fix everything that is wrong with the apple system in general.

It’s really sad that Apple has chosen not to address this issue. The AirPod Pros work great for everything except phone calls. I have done all of the suggested fixes and yes it will help temporarily but within a few calls or later that day the same issue always comes back. It’s absolutely sad that Apple will not address or attempt to fix this problem.

I have used the AirPods Pro extensively with Teams etc since before the Corona and during, without any issues whatsoever. As soon as I upgraded my Macs to 11.5.2 this issue started popping up with muffled sound coming and going.

New problem guys!! Now my airpods pro loses audio when connected to my MacBook pro..such BS. It shows connected, and then bam.. no audio. Disgusting…F*** APPLE! Anybody wants to buy my entire set comprising of an iphone 12 mini, macbook pro & airpods pro? I’m switching to the far superior and much more friendly and usable Windows..oh and F*** Apple!!!

Yes exactly. I am too facing the same issue. Connected but no audio for a while in between.

I have sent it to the centre for diagnosis and they are saying there is no issue on microphone and I have shown this thread where thousands of people talking about it then they just took it for diagnosis.

They returned my full money for AirPods Pro. I was waiting for yesterday if Apple introduced the second generation AirPods Pro, but it didn't happen. Since I think this glitch is a question of the headphone firmware version, so I decided to go and buy a brand new one again and there was no problem with calling on the current "old" version of the 2D27 firmware!

I have this same issue, Apple, please fix it. This issue can be simply duplicated with a fan truning on/off when you are making a phone call with others, I'm sure that your talents have better ways to confirm that with your expensive instuments in your FA lab. For me, it must be a design flaw, A $250 airpids pro cannot distinguish the real environemtal noise and the user's voice when there is a wind blowing through. that's not acceptable, more importantly, with some many users facing this same issue, there is no any announcement or solutions from Apple... something must be done for this...

I have exactly this problem. I the noise cancellation is generally buggy and makes weird noises, and the microphone is terrible. I'm definitely going back to the cheaper ones when these die (or drive me insane).

I have the same problem too. Its so bad I've stopped using my airpods for anything involving a mic. Its inexcusable given the price and how many people have been dealing with this. The mic is essentially useless.... I've tried the resets, the resync, even tried pairing a completely different set of airpod pros, disabling noise cancellation blah blah nothing works.

With iOS 15 and Voice Isolation feature active, during FaceTime calls at least for now, the problem is completely solved.

I hope this feature will be available also for third party calls and normal calls.

Yes. I bought AirPods Pro and no one can hear me if I am in any location other than very quiet. For such an expensive piece of equipment I am expecting more. It really so bad that I have to resort to holding my phones more time that I want to while commuting or walking around the city.

mis there going to be an algorithm fix on the works for this? I am thinking about returning them now.

Unfortunately, my AirPods were upgraded from the 2D27 firmware version (on which telephony worked) to the latest current version 3E751 and there was an immediate issue. It is unbelievable!! So I'll go try and test the beta installation of the firmware and let me know

To add insult to injury, not only is the noise canceling horrible for the mic in 3E751 - I am not noticing the NC doesnt work properly at the headphone either, there are so many sounds that slip through now..

I think I replaced them 6 or 7 times ! Each time I had exactly the same issue with the mic. 3 weeks ago I went again and instead of replacement, they gave me a brand new as a replacement and everything since then is okay. Specially with the iOS 15 and the FaceTime audio isolation is as it should be.

Good news for all! I installed new beta firmware version, unpaired and deleted from all my devices and did soft reset on my iPhone 12 mini. After this call calls has been solved! On whatsupp app dont work
