Thunderbolt to hdmi not working

Need to know why my thunderbolt outputs are not displaying when I want to view videos from my iMac on my TV via hdmi cable.

I have looked at system report and it shows "No device connected" even when its properly inserted into either one of the outputs at the back. (I have two available). My previous iMac has/had no problem with this task.

What do I do???

macOS Mojave

Ver. 10.14

iMac (Retina 5K, 27-inch, Late 2015)

4 GHz Intel Core i7

AMD Radeon R9 M380 2048 MB

iMac 27", macOS 10.14
