iphone 11 pro poor sound quality

Hi all, I’m having sound problems in GSM calls since the very beginning. The sound on my side is always good, the people on the other side complain a lot regarding sound quality. The symptom doesn’t happen in voip calls, only radio one. Apple support already replaced my initial phone, already changed the SIM card also and the symptom reoccur in the new phone. Anyone knows how to follow from here? Anyone has a similar experience?

They said that the problem was associated with the mobile's inability to alternate between 2G and 3G/4G for the phone calls. When it uses 2G, everything goes ok, but when it tries to use voice over 3G/4G network, the problem seems to appear. They said to investigate the problem with Apple, as all the network tests MEO performed on my area of residence rendered excellent results. Seems like a ping-pong game and that I am the ball 🤷‍♂️

Hi,

I had the same issues, sometimes I force the 3G network to access data when there is a lot of people, like football stadiums, and issues happen quite often, with the persons from the other side of the line not understanding what I’m saying.

I have IPhone 11 Pro Max with MEO operator, for a phone that costed 1500€ this cannot happen, I’m expecting a top class equipment.

Thanks

Still at 13.1.3 but it happened in all versions I used so fair and with two iPhones already. It looks like a radio thing between Apple and operators. Would be good to have a confirmation from Apple or Operators but to be honest I have none until now. “Sounds like” they are working it’s not good enough for a device with this price range.

I too am having a similar issue with my iPhone 11 Pro Max which is updated to the latest iOS 13.2.3 but wondering if others have this same scenario. Those I am talking with can hear me well up until about the 20 minute mark. After that, I begin to sound to them like I am in a tunnel, then my voice becomes digitized then I break up so badly that they can't understand my digitized voice. I have replicated this with Apple Support TWICE. I'm on my second phone and still having the issue. This is regardless of using no headset, a blue tooth headset or the provided headphones - speakerphone or no speakerphone. It's very frustrating as I use this phone for work and I can't take a meeting with it. I am using my trust old landline I still thankfully have. I don't know what to do at this point as there doesn't seem to be a solution.

Hi,

I have installed the version 13.2.3 and continue with the same issue... persons from the other side of the call continue to say that the voice is digitized and they don't understand what i'm saying... I have not change the phone because yet.

I'm using the Portuguese Network Provider MEO - Altice

I will try to change to other number using Vodafone... this is too bad no solution for this situation

Thanks

Unfortunately, Apple Care only tries the standard procedures (reset and not restore recommendations and etc) and don't do more than send you to the official repair centers. In there, they replace your phone and the problem continues to occur on the new device. This looks like a failed certification problem between Apple and some operators like Meo in Portugal.

Apple Support has forward my case to engineering. They collected and analyzed the logs from my iPhone 11 Pro and didn't find any problem with the phone itself. Thats when they told me to contact the operator to try to solve the problem. What I think is the same as d1000pt said in the previous post: "This looks like a failed certification problem between Apple and some operators like Meo in Portugal.". Thus, they need to cooperate and find a joint solution!

Cześć Harnaś,

I have reported to PL Apple Support, they told me that they have several reports on the issue, but it does not affect all owners and reason is unknown at this moment. They asked me to try resetting network settings, clean iOS install and some other stuff, but the agent wasn’t really convinced it will help. In case all workarounds do not bring any improvements, they asked me to raise a ticket at T-Mobile PL and share its number with them. They say they will investigate together, since they have strategic partnership in Poland. I have raised it yesterday to our key account at T-Mobile and currently awaiting ticket number on their side...

Cheers,

Piotr

Hi Piotr,

Thanks for Your prompt response. First I need to change my sim card because I`m quite sure that`s the first thing they gonna ask me to do. Than I will try to go through all that suggested solutions which I`m quite sure not gonna help. Worst part is that for me issue is nondeterministic, after phone reset, it works for few days and suddenly it breaks during this most important phone call. Please let me know what will be the outcome of Your investigation. I will keep You informed if I`m gonna achieve anything in that matter.

Pawel
