New iPhone 11 pro - earbuds microphone problem

Hello,

Last week I bought a new iPhone 11 pro and during the week I noticed people couldn't hear me when I was calling them using the original earbuds (which I always use when calling). I had to talk into the phone's mic while the earbuds where in before they could hear me. There is no problem using the mic for voice memo's for example, then it's perfectly clear.

So I went back (on Apple's advice) to the shop and they gave me another new set of earbuds and a new simcard. Rebooted everything but still no succes. Then later today when nothing worked they replaced the entire phone since it was only 5 days old.

But now after hours of reinstalling everything I STILL have the problem. It's very annoying and I am not sure anymore if I have had two broken sets of new earbuds or two broken brand new iPhone 11's. What should I do next?

Hi all, I have the exact same problem with my iPhone 11 Pro Max. I contacted Apple's support centre and they were no help at all, and based on this thread it is a known problem so Apple is just ignoring this to avoid admitting to another problem with their hardware/software.

Partial solution (only works for EarPods with lightning connector) = I worked out that after you have answered the call, just unplug the EarPods then reinsert them and the headset's microphone will work.

I hope Apple will actually implement a fix rather than asking us to waste our time travelling to their stores, wait in line at their stores only to go home with a new phone or set of earbuds with the same problem.

I am also having the same problem and it is very annoying. I am using earphones not earbuds and the problem is happening. The default option of the microphone is always the phone’s embedded microphone. And this is not a hardware problem as when I unplug and re-plug the earphones, it then uses the earphones’ microphone and works perfectly. However, it is super annoying to unplug/plug every time. This should not be happening while paying a fortune for this phone.

I have exactly the same problem. I also had my iPhone 11 replaced, but I still have the problem with the new iPhone. The only thing that is connected to both iPhones are the SIM card and my Apple ID (and with it all synchronized files that are downloaded when I sign up). The SIM card or network operator cannot cause the problem because I also have the problem via FaceTime when the iPhone was connected to the Internet via WIFI.

Here is my question, has someone reset the device and started it with a new Apple ID on the same device? does the problem still remain?

I have the exact same problem with listeners hearing me distantly when using headset. Both my airbuds and AirPods are affected. Can’t really figure it out. Havent tried to get a replacement phone yet, and now maybe I won’t, since you have the same issue. Hope Apple is reading this and try to address the issue. Really annoying to be unable to use headsets when in phone calls!
