Login screen inconsistency

I am setting up a new iMac with user accounts set up in Open LDAP. I'd like to keep the "list of users" option for the login screen rather than "username and password" but for some reason the "Other..." entry doesn't appear when the iMac is booted. If I log in as a local user then log out or switch user "Other..." appears.

Can someone tell me how I can force it to appear on the login screen from boot?

Turn Off Automatic Login:

  1. Go Here: Set up users, guests, and groups on Mac - Apple Support.
  2. Then scroll down to: “Customize the login experience
  3. Follow the Steps
  4. See if “Other...” appears
  5. Click the encircled-“question mark” (?) when setting this up for a few more tips on this.

Note: With “Off” selected for “Automatic Login“, when you startup the Mac, it will open a login window showing all the users.
