Cant Connect AMAZON Fire 7(kindle?) to imac. macOS High Sierra 10.13.6

I Have what I believe is a Kindle Fire7.

I connected with USB and nothing! Dont see icon on my desktop, nothing.

Am I supposed to download an app in order to upload files from my imac or do i search somewhere in my computer?

I see that my email come in...guessing its connected in icloud.

Also, I do see I have uploaded Photos in the past but really dont know how I did it when my imac doesn't recognize the Kindle now.

help!

I assume the app you downloaded is Android File Transfer. When the Kindle is connected to Mac then open Android File Transfer. Then from the top of Kindle screen pull down screen and tap Android usb charging notification and it will tell you to tap for further actions and you will get choices to add content to Kindle.

Then on your Mac the Kindle will appear and you can choose where to add or delete content. You must check File Transfer on your Kindle. The next picture is my Android phone open on my Mac. The Amazon OS is based on Android so it works the same.

one last question...when i open a folder, whether its in the kindle window on my imac or the kindle it self, I do not see a preview of photos or doc...I see only the icon. Without preview I have to open each to find the file im looking for. Is there a setting I can change?

Then if it refuses to connect via USB?

Try connecting them Bluetooth and use BlueToothFileExchange.

I followed the links, thanks, and downloaded app... iMac does not recognize the kindle. I unlocked the devise but do not get an icon for Kindle or Fire... just an Android icon. when I double click I get error that there is “no devise connected”.

Getting there! I found the device but it is not listed in finder and I can’t open files, get an error....and don’t have preview option to see photos or docs on kindle.

How do I open, preview and upload files?

Sorry I can’t say for sure, because I’ve never actually tried file sharing with a Kindle.

I can say that you’ll likely have to activate File Sharing on both devices, then go thru a handshake or trust step similar to other android devices.

I have at least 10 USB to micro USB cables that I have acquired from different devices. They all charge and transfer data as far as I know. None were marked for charging only. On my phone I use a USB-C to USB-A cable.

You peaked my curiosity and I checked all the USB to micro-USB cords that I have and none are marked as for use. I have 2 proprietary cords that appear to have a micro-USB connector but it's actually bigger that go to my Canon camera and my Blood Sugar machine.
