Text Message sound but no text

I have seen another user post the same issue but with no resolution so I want to start it up again. I am getting a notification sound that is the one used for text messages, but there is no lock screen, notification, or banner when it happens. I go to check text messages and there are no new messages. It is a “phantom” alert tone. I have restarted the phone, checked notification and sound settings, as well as message repeat reminders, but nothing seems to be causing it.

I am not sure where you looked. However, apart from Text messages many third party apps also use Alert Sounds which may have been set by you similar to the Text tone. Watch the GIF below as a demo for you (here I have used Text, Telegram and WhatsApp )

I don’t use any other text or phone apps that share the same alert tone. Even if I did I would get a notification pop up of some kind for that app. I don’t have any notifications hidden.
