I am a bit confused with trying to watch Disney + on an old Apple tv. It makes no sense since my apple tv can support the new Apple TV subscription but not the Disney+. My old Apple TV was working just fine until this and it's pretty unfair. This is so disappointing.

It looks like Disney+ won't be accessible from a 3rd gen Apple TV for the foreseeable future, but you can still AirPlay Disney+ content to your Apple TV. For further instructions: AirPlay video from iOS

I am equally disappointed; such unjust treatment of families who save their hard-earned money to buy apple products. Some cannot afford to buy new Apple products when they are released. My seven-year-old Apple TV works excellent; it supports Netflix and other streaming services. Disney and Apple must take care of the little guy; please put the Disney plus app on the older Apple TV.

That’s great that it works but that doesn’t mean it’s entitled to infinite support nor access to new features or services, and while Netflix is still supported many others are pulling support so that statement is not entirely accurate. Roku devices released around the same time have also been left out so it’s hardly isolated to this device.
Didn’t really answer the question as to why the new Apple TV subscription app works on older devices but not Disney plus app? If Apple can run an update that added Apple TV then they surely can run an additional update for new Disney plus... , no? Is this Disney being a jerk and with holding the app, or Apple trying to push their own streaming avoiding competition? Because if I have to upgrade my hardware it will be a Firestick that purchase.
The new Disney + (sucks) it isn't working on our equipment. I have an ATV 2 gen. Is that the problem? Once a movie starts, the audio continuse forever, no matter what you do. Leaving Disney and coming back only picks up where it left off. What's the fix?
Apologies. I have a 3rd generation AppleTV not a 2nd generation as I mistakenly thought. I think that is why I can mirror Disneyplus. However when I do mirror it, the video picture disappears from my iphone even though it plays perfectly fine on the TV.
It seems like Apple and Disney teamed up to create all these issues. Cause for people to think they need to upgrade to the new Apple TV, boost their sales....and it creates for people to get crazed about getting Disney. Hype advertising
I ditched Disney + just due to the hassle, the iMac would not mirror, the only thing that did was the old iPad mini, and given that I have a house of techno Tards it just wasn't worth it. I've had Apple computers from when they first came out, they have been the best and the worst. Simply because of Apple's arrogance.

Was this isolated to streaming via the Disney Plus app or was the issue encountered when using airplay/mirroring with other content as well?

Lol, that’s what my brother said. I think I might since my Apple TV still works just fine. This is the first time I had an issue with Apple TV.
What is a firestick? Is that on amazon? Is there an inexpensive Roku that it might work on? My third gen works great with everything else.
