how to watch disney plus on old apple tv

Me too! I can’t AirPlay Disney plus. Frustrating.

this information is incorrect! I can watch Disney+ on my phone and Roku just fine but if i try to airplay or mirror it gives me an error code.

Not the person you’re replying to, but I am having the issue and it’s limited to Disney+ only.

Try a different browser. Safari and probably Chrome won't work but I had success with Firefox.

Then why are they making it available for download on new apple tv devices but not pushing out to older ones? Yet they pushed out apple tv app to the older ones...

Anyone been able to successfully use airplay to stream Disney+ to their old Apple TV? Still can’t get it working. Even tried to download the shows and stream them but it didn’t work.

Works fine when I'm on Chrome instead of Safari. No idea why!

Yes it does. Apple created a server version of their TV app so that it could be pushed to the 3rd gen. Disney only has an app, and apps cannot run on that model. It would be up to Disney to create a server version. Since that model was discontinued Amazon has been the only other 3rd party provider to push out a server version, while many existing providers have stopped support.

You are free to get another device, though you will note that Apple is still supporting the 7 year old 3rd gen with updates, while Amazon has been known to drop support after only a few years.

Yes. This is bad business to try and force us to upgrade. Won't happen...just souring me on Apple
