Have a bluetooth mouse so can't turn off bluetooth. CPU usage over 10% constantly and as high as 40%. Did not notice this issue prior to Catalina.

The same happens to me and I did have alook at the activity monitor. This also affects the mouse movement that starts lagging and from time to time I have to switch off and then on the mouse so that it can be used again.
I guess Paulgd also looked at the activity monitor or else I have no idea where he was getting the 10 to 40% CPU usage.
Yes I checked the activity monitor to see that Bluetooth was consuming anywhere from 10-40% of CPU time. When I disable Bluetooth in preferences Bluetooth usages goes to 0 and the entire system runs much smoother. Since I like to use a Bluetooth mouse I’d prefer not to have to turn Bluetooth off. In previous OS versions on the same MacBook Pro (10,2) I never saw Bluetooth causing any issues.
Having the same problem.
Mac Mini 2012, keyboard and mouse connected via bluetooth
During standard internet usage (browsing, watching youtube) the process bluetoothd usually has double cpu time of the next highest process (i.e. firefox). This is really ridiculous...
Strongly waiting for a fix.
I seriously doubt that Bluetooth has any effect on CPU usage.
Have you looked at log files?
Have you looked at the activity monitor?
Barry
Yes I looked at the activity monitor and was very surprised that Bluetooth was consuming so much CPU time. I’ll look at the logs to see if anything is shown there about Bluetooth.
Try resetting the SMC....cannot hurt, might help.
Barry
The same here - up to 60% of cpu usage.
I even did a google search to find if there is any issue publicly available (so I am here).
