Apple Notes Blank

I wonder if this is a dark mode problem.

since I switch back to light mode, I have not seen the problem yet.

I have the same issue - tho it’s only the notes sync’d with Gmail whose contents randomly appear blank. The issue does not affect iCloud sync’d notes.

This issue goes back to at least the previous version of OS13, but now happens all the time in 13.3.1

Apple, why is something so basic so screwed up?!? And where is the fix?

It happens no matter what your screen setting it - rebooting the phone seems to be the only thing that works for me - the notes stored directly on the phone do not have this issue. I dont know why the two are different

@angebabes, your frustration is understandable, but I can tell you as someone who is subscribed to this thread and who receives emails each time someone replies, there have been no solutions to this issue. Users have described variations on the theme of quitting notes and restarting, but none of us can fix this and Apple apparently don’t want to say a thing about it, which is annoying a lot of people. In fact I’m wrong - there was that one guy who added that you could access the content of the note by hitting the “share” button then “mail”, but that’s only slightly faster than double tapping the home button and quitting notes via the quick launcher then restarting the app, which is what I normally do.

Really it’s only Apple who can get to the bottom of this and fix it in a software update. Until then, this thread likely will just be users moaning about how annoying it is.

The ‘invisible ink’ Notes problem has been around for a good few iOS releases on my IPhone 5 and X.

I use a single Note as a kind-of to-do list so it’s open most of the time. Every few days (sometimes more or less frequently), when I switch to it, the note has become invisible but I’ve found that just killing the Notes app and reopening it makes the note visible again. I haven’t needed to restart the phone, just kill the Notes app.

I assume that not many people use Notes as this bug has been around for a long time but Apple don’t appear to have tried to fix it. It’s irritating but manageable, I guess.

I found that force closing the notes app and reopening it will allow normal access. Apple has to fix this.

Me too! Been happening for a long time. To fix I need to sign out of Iphone 10 then sign back in.

I have found that if I close all open windows on my iPhone (swipe up to close) then open notes again it is fixed.

This has been happening to me for a while too. It seems to have started right after Apple introduced the “dark” display option. Is it possible the notes app has trouble reconciling the display option that was selected when the note was created, vs the option that is currently selected? I know that switching between light and dark with the notes app open does not fix the problem. But perhaps the problem originates with the conflict, and cannot be resolved until the app or device is restarted.

I’m local, I’d be happy to provide my device for debugging purposes 😉

My staff and I have been having this issue of disappearing notes on our iPads and me also on my iPhone X for months. Seriously Apple this is a joke, if you cant fix this then it looks like we will be migrating to Samsung.

The only way any of us can see our notes is continually forcing the app to close and then reopen it again. Restarting our devices does not stop it happening. There is no obvious reason why it happens. Sometimes its multiples times a day, others maybe once. At least give us some proper feedback and let us know if anything is actually being done to resolve this very irritating issue.

It’s June 21, 2020 and the problem of the blank notes persists. I can type a note but then when I open it, it’s completely blank! My only work around is to “forward” it to messages where I can actually read it. This seems to be a long-standing problem, Apple. How about a fix?!?!

I have the same problems with notes on my I-Phone 7 & X also. At times the notes are duplicated but most of the times the notes have disappeared. Seems to happen to both phones at the same time but they correct itself after I powered 1 phone off & then back on. I am beginning to think that Apple has COVID

I did have the same problem, i just changed my main account in settings to my gmail account which had the visuality problem (my icloud notes were all normally visible). Now it seems to be solved, not sured if problem will return!
