Logic Pro

2 problems I currently encounter... if anyone can help an old computer illiterate fogey....

  1. If I leave Logic Pro on for a couple of hours with a project open... have a bit of lunch or whatever, the curser line then refuses to move and I can't loop anything. Playback is fine but of course I can get no further with a stuck curser. If I quit and restart, it comes back fine.
  2. Using a guitar track, I have begun to suffer massive latency unless I switch off the amp, whereupon the latency is barely noticeable. I've been using a Focusrite interface and any other input gives me no problem. I didn't get that problem until recently... the version I'm using is 10.4.7 and because I understand little, I've never adjusted any preferences other than buffer size 1024 (because I was told to do this to avoid system overload) and buffer range medium.

Any idea/ suggestions would be great. Cheers. John

1. Mac OS Preferences -> Energy Saver -> adjust "Computer sleep" to "Never"

and disable "Put the hard disk(s) to sleep when possible".

Also de-activate "Power-Nap".

2.

a) activate "Low-Latency-Mode" during the recording, is it better?

b) decrease the buffer size while recording. (Yes, the smaller the buffer size, the more work has to be done by the cpu).

c) go back to an older logic version. https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT202992
