Same with mine also. I did what you were recommended and let the battery drain down. I had to repeat this two time in one day - so two fully charged battery cycles, within the space of 5 hrs - WTF!!!

Look, it’s very well that you may have a defective MacBook — but that’s something you have to take up with Apple directly. There’s no point venting in community forum, it’s just getting out of hand.

pscales: if your MBP isn't charging properly that could indicate a larger issue with the battery and/or the power management system.

Trying to figure the same thing out for the USB-C cables, I've got 4 of various ages, including one from an iPad Pro, none of them have writing on them including the new 16" macbook and I have no good way to tell which is which. Weird that a support article would state something so directly that doesnt seem to actually be true?

My case: I've talked with my reseller and asked to return the Macbook. Probably I'll buy the next one on Amazon, so the return/refund will be lot easier. If the next one will suffer the same problem, then I will purchase another product (Razer, for example).

Apple must declare if this is an actual issue (HW or SW does't matter) of certain units or it's the normal behaviour of any 16''.

I'm also experiencing poor battery life on my 16 inch model. 3 to 5 hours under 'normal' usage (mostly doing web developement so running my IDE, several browsers while playing some music etc.) is not what I expected.

What also worries my; my battery seems to degrade pretty quickly. I'm on a cycle count of 31 I'm the already on max 95% of the design capacity.

My MBP 16 inch seems to have settled into acceptable battery life.

We just bought another MBP 16 not using it much but its battery hasn't particularly worn down fast while sitting unused (sleep) for days.

The issue described here is very similar to what i experience. MBP16 (MVVK2), serial C0***D6N, bought 2 days ago. 3 cycles.

1. Battery just drains during night. When you open the laptop the percentage in the morning it is lower ~10% lower
2. 2 hours of normal use drop the charge from 80% to 20%.

I am also having horrible battery life on my new 16 inch MacBook i9. My 2015 MacBook pro's battery outlast my new MacBook pro. I can literally stare at the battery percentage and watch it drop when just running a web browser. The other day, when using design software wit the laptop unplugged it went from 100% - 0% in about an hour. Also, as someone else had mentioned, if not plugged in the battery drains when the computer is asleep overnight - dramatically. I don't know what to do.

I have 55 cycles after 1.5 months of having it (while having a PC as well), that's incredible I don't even use it that much.

Also having up to 1.5 hours of work time in adobe premiere editing some 4k footage.

same probem on my Mac 16 inch. I did 12 cycles and my battery life is already at 97%.

When fully charged, my battery has about 7 hours of life for normal internet browsing with Chrome, 8 with Safari, but I'm still far away of two hours from the expected battery time proclamated by apple.

I got mine right away when they were released and have been having major battery problems since the start. A few things I found online helped (disable siri type stuff), but I still have poor battery life and last night was the worst...plugged in and sleeping and it still died? My 2015 15" Macbook Pro lasted 8 hours. This one barely lasts 3-4. I've already got 58 cycles after just a few months. I suspect it's an issue with the 5500M sucking power when it shouldn't? Who knows.

My setup is the 2.3Ghz i9 with 8GB 5500M

Battery life doesn't seem to be particularly bad or noticeable for some time now.

We have two:

1) 2.4Ghz 8 core i9, 32Gb Mem, Radeon Pro 5500M 8GB, 2Tb SSD, MBP 16" 2019

2) 2.3Ghz 8 core i9, 16Gb Mem, Radeon Pro 5500M 4GB, 1Tb SSD, MBP 16" 2019

Me too. My 2015 got 6-8 hours and this is quite disappointing. I just keep telling myself I traded battery life for performance, but with the increased battery size, you'd think it would be as-promised...not way worse.
