Epson Stylus Photo R2880

Hello everyone,

I am thinking of purchasing a new iMac and was wondering if anybody here is using an Epson Stylus Photo R2880 printer with the new OS - Catalina.

I looked on Epson's website and there doesn't appear to be any drivers for the new OS.

Will the drivers that are built in to the Mac OS allow this printer to work?

Thanks,

Norm

This is an old device and Epson stopped supporting it several years ago with current drivers for macOS. You can assume that any software available for this printer is still 32-bit, and that it won't work on Catalina. It is also too old to be supported by Apple's built-in AirPrint printing solution.

GutenPrint v5.3.3 for macOS supports this printer, just not on Catalina because the GutenPrint installation is having issues with its Catalina installation, and they have not issued any update on that issue since late October 2019.

The printer is also supported on Linux.
