I have this problem too however I think most people are incorrectly concluding it is the ear tips. I tried many ear tip replacements for the APP’s without success. Then moved on to quite a few other true wireless earbuds. All caused major ear problems. For me at least, it comes down to metal (nickel) used in the buds. The APP’s mesh cover has nickel in it. The charging contact points on all of these contain nickel. I have gone back to my wired buds and can wear them all day. I can also still use my Beats Fit Pros as long as I cover the metal contact points with tape but that’s a hassle. I hope the manufacturers will get enough feedback to accept nickel allergies are real and stop using it in products that come in contact with skin.

Bought the Airpod Pro 2nd Gen. but as soon as I put them in, my ears they started to itch and eventually ache. I was constantly taking them out and scratching. Then it started to feel like the ache was going deeper so I just took them out and stopped using them altogether. I was concerned I was going to get an infection (other people on here have complained about having to go to the doctor for medical attention). I need headphones for work so this was quite frustrating and because I bought them from "The Source" I couldn't return them. I figured I would give these tips a try and see if it fixed the problem before trying to resell the buds on FB Marketplace.
Luckily these replacement tips fixed the problem. I grabbed the S-M-L pack just incase and have been using these for a few weeks now with no issues.
(I do find this odd as I have other "silicone" products, such as my fitbit, that have never bothered me. There must be something weird in these airpod tips that is bothering people...Thanks a lot, Apple.)
I have contact dermatitis to methyl acrylate and ethyl acrylate and propolis. Acrylates are the problem for me. That’s what is used in the manufacturing of the ear tips of the AirPods. I get irritation that becomes a burning which produces a thin leathery scab inside my ear. There is a prescription called clobetesol that clears it up. I am looking for an alternate tip material. You may have the same allergy.
I have done it Johnathan, thank you. I’ll be reviewing hoping to see in future alternative Tips to try because this is first silicone tips that give me allergy in my life and I have worn 5 different tips like this.
Hi, it should be something different in the Airpods pro Ear tips silicone because in my case in a couple of hours it was crazy. I agree that fit and quality was perfect. I’m waiting for official ear tips from different material.
THIS IS HAPPENING TO ME TOO. But I don't believe it's just the silicon eartips bc I have irritation where the airpod pro arm touches the skin on the side of my face as well as the ear canals....I've used all apple products for almost 10 years and wore the original Aiprods for over a year with no problems at all and I recently upgraded to the Airpod Pros at the end of October. I wore them for a couple of weeks no problem, then began to develop pretty serious--what seemed to be--bilateral otitis externa caused by some kind of bacteria or fungus, that I assumed got on them when I dropped them on the ground at work. The symptoms would present after wearing them for about 4 hours and included 7-8/10 pain in both ears, inflammation, itchiness, significant swelling, as well as erythema/itchiness outside my ear where the tip of the airpod arm touches my skin, all of which is followed by severe crusting that would occlude my entire ear canal for over a week. Antibiotics given by my doctor did not seem to do much of anything but the irritation and crusting would completely subside after about a week and a half to two weeks after not wearing the Airpod pros. I have tested the airpod Pros in one ear at a time and each time the reaction would occur in only the ear I place the Airpod; and I should note that I disinfected the airpods multiple times before testing them again just to be sure it was not some infectious agent and even tried this using a completely different set of Airpod Pros. I have also tested other earbuds and have had no reaction to them..so I am now thinking I developed an allergy to something specifically in the Airpod Pros and I'm not really sure where to go from here other than to stop wearing them; which is a shame because they are the best wireless earbuds I've used, hands down.
As I said before the same thing happened to me, I made the same tries as you, and have the same effects. The only good thing for me and my ears is that I only wore the airpods pro for 40 minutes and it wasn't so bad the injures. I have worn silicone earbuds for 4-5 different companies and never had a problem.
I am waiting to official Apple Ear Tips supplies with similar silicone to other products in the market to be able to use Airpods pro.
If someone else find a solution please share with us.
I purchased the AirPod pros and also had an allergic reaction to the silicone tips. I definitely would recommend that if anyone experiences itching they stop using this as it may be that there is an allergy to the tips. Follow up with a dr if unsure to avoid an ear infection.
I’ve had serious reactions to the Airpods Pro too. Swelling of the ear canal, burning, itching, drainage. Would love to try some kind of hypoallergenic alternative tips but I don’t think anything like that exists yet.
Having experienced the itch, fluids etc. from using my airpods etc. pretty much straight off after receiving them (six days ago) I’ve just now stumbled upon this thread.
I did some research on apples website and I came across this which I thought I’d share https://support.apple.com/en-gb/HT211158
So it’s definitely either the nickel or acrylates that’s causing my reaction, and I’m guessing that changing the buds won’t help me.
Just thought I’d share in case it’d be of help for anyone else.
Good to know these are available as an alternative, thank you! I would definitely recommend anyone having this is issue with the AirPods or Pro to submit feedback. Apple has a dedicated team to review all feedback and getting it to the right department.
Another or additional option is to contact Apple (may want to ask for a Senior Advisor/Manager) to request a complaint be submitted about a product. They will log the complaint for you to make sure it gets to the appropriate team.

I have now reported this to Apple and opened a case with them! They say currently they have not heard this before, I do find this very hard to believe.
If you haven't reported this apple already please do so. Contact Apple Support
I also brought memory foam tips, but I have not received them, once I do i'll let you guys know if they make any different.
