Not receiving iPhone Text Alerts

Since purchasing an Apple Watch I’ve noticed that my iPhone is not alerting me to new texts (no sound). Once in a while I hear a low ding from the watch which alerts me, but I don’t always hear that and would rather hear my selected ringtone from the phone. Is there a setting somewhere I can change?

thank you

Hey Rebecca!

Notifications will either go to Apple Watch or iPhone, not both. This article explains more about this: Notifications on your Apple Watch

"Where you’ll see your notifications

Notifications go to either your Apple Watch or iPhone, but not both. Learn when a notification might appear on your iPhone, instead of your Apple Watch, below.

If your iPhone is unlocked, you'll get notifications on your iPhone, instead of your Apple Watch.

If your iPhone is locked or asleep, you'll get notifications on your Apple Watch, unless your Apple Watch is locked with your passcode."

Regards.

Hello and welcome to Apple Support Communities, Rebecca1952!

I understand you're not able to hear the notification from your Apple Watch when you receive a message. I'd be happy to provide information to help you address this.

While you can't change the notification sound, you can increase the volume: Change the audio and notification settings on your Apple Watch

Have a great day!
