Apple Notes has removed drawing functionality, ruining all my sketches by converting them to “markup.” Please bring back advanced drawing, or make a separate app for it.
Apple notes had a great set of drawing tools, with what I think was the best digital pencil sim out there. However, they no longer support these tools, and instead have similar looking but totally different “mark up” tools, where the eraser erases entire strokes instead of acting like a regular eraser. I desperately want the actual drawing tools back. I understand why they did this- to consolidate the toolset for the average notes user. But it’s an absolute shame to silently remove functionality used and adored by so many artists. Especially when the iPad Pro is marketed as a professional design tool. Please bring it back!
Its also awful that the drawings I made previously are now automatically converted to “markup.” Let me edit the hundreds of drawings I’ve made in the app using the old drawing tools!
Better yet, I hope they separate the actual drawing tools out and make an “Apple Drawing” app, so the likelihood of those tools getting blown away in an Notes update is non existent. It’s clear that the direction they want to take the Notes app is for users who only need light drawing tools. That makes sense- but don’t leave the artists in the dust! Please make an Apple Drawing app for users like me.
I am so bummed about this! Please hear this plea, lovely Apple people! Thank you!
