Can’t play movie from my iPad through Projector

I have purchased a movie through the Apple TV APP on my iPad and am trying to play though a projector using VGA connection.

I keep getting a “There’s a problem loading this content” message on the iPad.

The movie plays fine when I use an HDMI connection, however the limitation of this method is that I cannot use an external speaker and sound is played through the projector.

Please can somebody advise me how to fix the VGA connection as this is the sound option I would prefer (external speaker).

It is part of Apple's copyright protection system. With HDMI the iPad can negotiate a digital secure signal to a TV so it knows that it is playing back on a legitimate TV. VGA is an analog signal and can be spoofed by media pirates to make illegal copies of paid content. It is a shame that this is how it has to be. I used to work in education and it would have made our jobs a lot easier if we could interface our iPads with projectors using VGA in order to display paid content.
