why are balloons on my iphone

Ok, next issue since I was forced to upgrade my iphone 5 to 10.3.4

Today while in the passenger seat of my daughters car, got a text. One I needed to answer. IN fact I did, we went back and forth a few times no problem. Suddenly, and I have NO CLUE what I hit, the screen changed to a light lime green, with oh, 4 or 5 fields on the screen and a few tabs on top.

I didn't have my reading glasses with me. I can see black text on white ok, good enouh to read and text, but white type on this light green? Totally impossible. And I could NOT get OUT of that screen.

I tried tapping a few fields, not knowing what they said, didn't work. Tried a tab on top that I thought said dismiss, guess not. It did nothing. Tried turning the phone off and back on only this dumb green screen was still there. What happened to my conversation, who knows.

All of a sudden, stupid balloon icons started flying across the screen.

WHAT THE ****???????? Is this some easter egg I discovered?

Once I got home, with glasses on, I tried to replicate this but I cannot. Again I have no idea what I must have tapped. This is simple texting.... type, hit send. That's ALL I want to do here.

Searched google and it seems this is a feature.

"Send it with balloons." WOW.

Well what an idiotic, useless, frustrating feature!

So... can anyone tell me what spot did I hit to start this so at least I will know what to be careful NOT to hit. And if I do it again what and where do I tap OUT of it, and better still is there a way to permanently turn this off?

Thanks for asking the Apple Support Communities for help with balloon on your screen. I believe you are talking about message effects, send with balloons.

This article talks about this: Use message effects with iMessage on your iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch - Apple Support

When you type am iMessage to send to someone, instead of tapping send, long press, and you get the option to add effects. Then tap the Screen tab at the top center, then swipe right to left two times. this gets balloons. Tap the X to cancel out and get back to the main messages screen, or tap the arrow to send. Well thanks for trying but that page is NOT helpful at all.

copy;

Open Messages and tap to start a new message. Or go to an existing conversation.
Enter your message or insert a photo, then touch and hold .
Tap the gray dot to preview bubble effects.
Tap to send.

So. I open messages That first icon there? The page with pen? I don 't have it.

Lower L to R I have a camera, a heart with fingers in it, and a letter A

Only way to figure out what this cryptic nonsense means is fiddle around with them. I DO NOT CARE. I just want to send text.

ON the right is a field with the send arrow. ALL I NEED!

Edited, ok, complaints removed. I get that.

But I still have the question of once this green screen appears, apparently by holding down send too long,

HOW do I go back to simple text and close, remove, block, turn off... what ever applies to that page?

Again, there is no back arrow, no X button, no nothing. I honestly don't know what I hit to get rid of it. I need to know so the next time my finger sits on the button too long I know how to go back.
