I will occasionally connect my MBP (late 2019 16" model running MacOS 10.15.2) to a Visio D58u-D3, but I'll wake my laptop with the laptop screen appearing to have the wrong color profile or settings (screen colors are either too dark or too bright). I've tried to use the display preferences to the operating system to reload, reset to the standard Color LCD or Color LCD Calibrated profile, but this does not work. The only thing that works to resolve the issue is completely restarting the laptop. So I guess Apple has finally reached the realm of Microsoft where they no longer quickly respond to their customers, leaving them to perform full restarts.... Sigh!!
To everyone else who has been battling this issue by adjusting their external monitor's settings, please be aware that fiddling with your external monitor's settings to compensate for this malfunction of Apple's operating system is just applying a bandage to cancer. You're only temporarily resolving the problem for your external monitor for that one specific instance, but you have to do double the work to readjust or reset your external monitor's settings back after a reboot of your laptop/desktop.
