My Apple TV is stuck on a screensaver photo with the airplay instructions.

How do I fix this? I’ve tried the instructions for resetting by unplugging and plugging back in.

That is called ‘Conference Room Display’ in the documentation, and users can turn that off in Settings.

How do I change the settings when I can’t close out of the AirPlay screen? When I press the menu button on the remote nothing happens and I’ve even replaced the battery. And after 5 minutes the screen saver starts playing and nothing happens when I try to use the remote.

If the remote doesn’t work with your Apple TV box, then try to unlink and link the remote (step 2 and 3), as described in the second half of this page: If your Apple TV remote isn’t working - Apple Support
