Apple 4k TV Auto Switching

I have an issue with home theater system and new Apple 4k TV over riding default settings.

When I power up the LG OLED TV it will automatically power up the amp which is great, I have its default setting to automatically switch to Sky TV inputs on TV & Amp - as that is the most used and works well.

Issue is within 10 seconds or so the Apple TV powers up and over rides defaults settings and switches the amp & LG TV to Apple TV inputs.

Any advise would be greatly appreciated as takes three remotes to get sorted each time I use TV

Personally I use a Universal Remote to control my HT. My HT consists of a Samsung QLED TV, a Onkyo Receiver, 6.1 Channels on the speakers an Apple TV 4K & Direct TV box

I set the remote for 3 functions:

  1. Watch TV: This turns on receiver which routes the HDMI signal from my receiver to the TV and sets the TV to the correct input and also turns on the Direct TV system.
  2. Watch Apple TV: This turns on the Apple TV, routes the HDMI signal from the receiver to the TV and sets the TV to the correct input.
  3. I also have a setting on the remote to control Internet radio (Pandora, etc..) on the Receiver.

Programming everything took about 15 minutes and it works perfectly even when I switch from watching Direct TV to watching Apple TV and vice versa.

The remote I use is a Logitech. I prefer their remotes as the programming is web based and simple to do. I've been using universal remotes for about 20 years and have found theirs the easiest to work with.

It's an additional expense yes but it makes the experience much much better than trying to use the remotes from so many devices. I keep those remotes in a box and rarely even look at them.

Hi rkaufmann87

Thanks for your reply - I do have a Logitech Harmony One remote but it is currently sitting in the draw as the Marantz SR7012 Amp has 4 programmable buttons on the remote that do the same - 1 push and will switch to Watch TV / Watch Sky / Listen to Music etc.

I might get it back out and reprogram if I can not sort the issue, as if I remember correctly you can add a step to power off Apple TV and I could make that the 2 or 3 command in the process before it changes the TV & Amp inputs.

Have a great day
